die vierte ausgabe der modeselektion war lŠngst ŸberfŠllig und fŠllt deshalb extra energisch aus, dafŸr sorgen viele gro§e namen der internationalen clubszene und eine ganze reihe aufstrebender kŸnstler: actress, r¿dh‰d, peder mannerfelt, rroxymore, sarah farina und all die anderen setzen zwischen roughem und clever gebautem techno, kosmischen breakbeats und dub- und-bass-eskapaden die unterschiedlichsten akzente und erzeugen trotzdem einen starken, stringenten vibe. die als doppel-cd und vierteilige 12--serie erhŠltliche compilation enthŠlt 17 tracks von kŸnstlern, die zur aktuellen speerspitze in sachen anspruchsvoller dance music zŠhlen Ð so sehen es zumindest modeselektor, aber wann hat uns ihr gespŸr je enttŠuscht? wie jede modeselektion ist die vierte ausgabe kein schnšdes mixtape: alle kŸnstler wurden eigens um passende, unveršffentlichte musik gebeten, und das ergebnis kann sich sehen lassen. -wir sind stolz und fŸhlen uns geehrt, dass wir die compilation genau so zusammenstellen konnten-, schwŠrmen die selektoren. -volume 04 ist wahrscheinlich die funktionalste und eingŠngigste modeselektion, die wir bis dato gemacht haben

pastoral/tropical soundscapes and post-brutalist compositions by max loderbauer and jacek sienkiewicz from their ÒendÓ cd seem to evoke those situations where can actually hear objects, shapes and time flow itself, a sort of synaesthesia which erases and obliterates beginnings and ends of events, processes and phenomena. apocalyptic and contemplative spaces generated by this pair of seasoned sound creators explode genre bastions of ambient and idm, leading into the spectral areas once explored by such pioneers and popol vuh or ilhan mimaroglu. above all, etheric and extra-sensitive ÒendÓ marks the meeting of two incurable individualists, who use various tools of their trade to come up with a surprisingly atemporal effect, an insistent pulse of detail on an ever-morphing background. without vivid commentary and recognizable soundbites of the present, ÒendÓ is simultaneously an interesting projection of hopes and anxieties of the new age. core of tracks included on the record has been produced on the occasion of max and jacek appearing as a live duo during 2015Õs berlin atonal festival, which resulted in well received Òalpine-tatra-himalaianÓ ep Òridges-. remaining compositions are natural conclusion of their friendship, conversations, meetings, trips and recording sessions that operate according to the rule of free improvisation with a reduced instrumental setup.

two years ago i played at studio 9 in vilnius, lithuania. the following day i missed my flight home and ended up spending an extra day, which gave me a chance to explore the city with my friend linus, who took me to the contemporary art centre. it was there i spotted a book named ÔrojusÕ, that linus told me translated as ÔparadiseÕ. the word and striking cover of the book stuck in my mind. a few days after returning home, i turned on to a national geographic documentary named Ôdesigned to danceÕ, explaining the courtship rituals of birds of paradise. as i watched, i jokingly began drawing similarities between these birdsÕ attempts to captivate and impress the opposite sex with dance, and the way strangers try to attract one another in clubs and interact on the dance floor. this gave me the idea of creating a record of functional club music, sequenced as if it were a club night, from doors to closing, using samples of these birds of paradise and their habitat. thus, rojus. leon vynehall 2016
